With the rush of the holiday season upon us, you will be spending time buying items for loved ones. But what gift does your website need this year? Responsive design? Analytics? We took some time to think about what your website would write to Santa for this holiday season.
Dear Santa,
I have been a very good website and web application this year. And you can ask my business – My customers found the information they were looking for and engaged our company.
Here’s my holiday wish list:
I want to be mobile responsive. I feel bad when my customers interact with me on mobile phones and tablets. All the pinching and zooming. If I were responsive, I could show the right content. And my friends would stick around longer.
I want better analytics. I’m producing a ton of data about what people are doing with me, but I don’t know what it all means and I am scared of changing. Will Santa help me read the tea leaves?
I want features our customers care about. Our applications were designed with “us” in mind. But our customers don’t like the same things we do. I am frustrating and hard to use. I ask too many questions. My customers don’t love me like I love them.
I want to have clearer, more strategic messaging. Every department in my company tries to say something all at once. I know we have a communication strategy, but it’s hard to tell from our homepage and landing page.
I want to try Agile. I’ve heard you get the most value by getting something simple in front of customers quickly, and add to it based on what you learn.
Oh – and a new bike, too.
